Self Portrait Tuesday

Making and Baking...how I spent my time on a Monday night
Today is my first attempt at Self Portrait Tuesday and I did it with my new camera. Don't say I didn't warn you all that you'd be the guinea pigs for my experiments. I figured Self Portrait Tuesday would be a great weekly project for me to try different things out with the camera and also participate in a cool project. As you can see, this week I climbed the black and white mountain. : )
So the whole point of this month's Self Portrait is time. I figured that I would do a picture of what I spent my time doing on Monday night - I tried a couple shots with me baking - but it was messy and I got nervous I'd drop the camera in the mix or the melted chocolate. I went for the standard picture of oneself in the mirror. Which actually shows more the area by the front door than anything of me. Strategic? Yes. Lamely so, but yes. Anyway, this is the area of the house that I call the information center, (in my head - because if I said it out loud, the boy would make fun) or otherwise known as the dumping ground. In the left basket is the mail, and receipts, and just papery stuff. The right hand basket is for cluttery random stuff - like the bad cd we bought out one night under the influence. Below all that are shoes, and more shoes. The shoes reside there primarily because I hate to clean the floors and the shoe drop seems to assist me in my prevention efforts.
On the left of the information center is a key hook that holds two important things besides the keys - one is the triangle shaped thing that a friend of mine gave me - it's supposed to ward of evil spirits, so far so good - of course it helps that we lock the front door. The other item is what you call bling ... it was one of the gifts we received in a "rock n' roll" gift exchange over Christmas. (The other was a leather cuff with spikes on it.) If you look closely you can see that the bling has a dollar sign on it, which when activated spins and flashes. Nothing but class. Thankfully there's the beautiful candlestick some friends of ours gave us that balance out the cheesiness of the bling.
Then there's me in the mirror, behind me in the reflection is a collection of masks - and some wood blocks for printing. What you can't see is me covered in flour and cocoa, that's where the aforementioned strategy came in. Anyway, this whole area causes me some grief, so I'll be attempting to organize and streamline this over the next few days, of course, this will most likely happen while the boy is away since any change in decor causes angst ridden moans to rise from his throat.
Cheers!
