Wedding inspiration

I'm getting more into the wedding vibe now - some of you will be thriled with that and some of you will recoil i horror.   At any rate, be prepared to see loads of wedding inspiration over the next few months.   Here's some from a lovely blog called Jeremy and Kathleen - they created their own wedding invites (well Kathleen did) and I really like the personal touch with the signatures s well as the very simple but well thoughtout design with all the various pieces.

Chair project

I can add this to my list of many projects - I would love to transform my hideous chairs from Office Depot into these lovely folding chairs from Anthropologie.

   

 

Flowers or not?

      

I'm so out of whack with wedding planning.  Really I shouldn't be talking about flowers yet - it should more be about when and where.  But whatever, that's a bigger discussion that Mr. Occupied and I need to have.  The fun stuff is finding inspiration, and I've found a ton. 

For those of you who haven't seen our house lately, you wouldn't know about the jade plant collection that I have cultivated over the past few years.   I inherited them from our landlord at our last apt, she left a bunch that I managed to save, but not with out a few stops and starts.  Having jade plans is really easy- water them once a week and that's about it.  I love the variety of shapes they come in and they remind me of the jade plants I had growing up in California. 

So I've come across a few great ideas for center pieces and place settings that I love and involve jade plants.  I'm definitely keeping these in mind when I"m at the point of deciding center pieces.

Posters

I have a great assignment for school this week - make an election themed collage out of typography.  While not all the posters I'm showing here as samples fit all the requirements of the assignment, they certainly are inspirational.

I love when good design combines with a great purpose.  30Reasons.org has posters that get delivered to your inbox every day for 30 days leading up to the election. 

Here's their mission statement: 30 Reasons is a 30-day email and internet campaign to encourage people to vote for Barack Obama. Our goal is simple: Use design to build a logical, multi-faceted argument for Obama and make it easy to share each reason with another person.

My friend Jena just put a new sign up on her really cool store in Northampton, Mass.  If you are in Northamption, defintiely stop by Pinch there are lots of great gift ideas, loads of beautiful pottery and handmade items. 

Please don't eat me!

You  know those people at work who always use other people's stuff from the refrigerator?  You do...everyone has one.  My coworker saw another coworker go into our refrigerator at work the other day and use her salad dressing.  At least if you're going to use it, be sneaky about it right? 
I would love to find/design some sort of signage - maybe even on a really cool rubber band like the ones at Russell and Hazel, that says:

Please don't eat me!
For <insert name>, not for you!
Hands off!
Did you make me?  No?  Then go away.

You get the idea.

I love Egg Press - they are one of my favorite letterpressers.   Their monkey card is one of my favorites.  But now they've outdone themselves with their very cute pouches - can't decide which one I like better.  Check out their tshirts and other new items as well.
